"Your Books Are Not EvenSelling? They are so Rubbish

This is another comment I've seen a few times, and it always makes me smile.

The people writing it usually have no idea how long a book has been available, how much it's been promoted, how many followers I have, or where I am in my business journey. They see a sales number and assume it tells the whole story.

The reality is very different.

I've been building my online multiple streams of business since 2021 and started publishing books in early 2025. My colouring books are much newer than that, and like every new product, they all started with zero sales, zero reviews and zero customers.

The first few didn't do much at all, and that's completely normal.

What changed wasn't a sudden explosion in sales. It was the response from real people.

One customer bought four of my colouring books and, without me asking, made videos because she genuinely enjoyed them. She wasn't promoting them because she'd been told to—she was sharing them because she wanted to. Her videos introduced my books to more people, and that's when the reviews, recommendations and customer feedback really started to grow.

That was the moment I realised I might be onto something.

It wasn't the sales figures that inspired me to keep creating. It was seeing people connect with the books, relate to the themes, recommend them to friends and tell me how much they enjoyed them. Some of the reviews I've received mean far more to me than any sales number ever could.

Those customers are the reason I've continued creating more subjects, more relatable themes and more colouring books.

I'm still at the beginning of that journey, and I'm incredibly proud of how far it's has come in such a short space of time. Every business starts somewhere, and I'm looking forward to seeing where mine goes next.
